Hello and welcome back to the Miss Amanda Chen Show. We are now in Season 4 of the 100 Masked Men series, where I anonymously interview different men from all walks of life about masculinity, sex and relationships, and how that contributes to our self worth.
Continuing with this week's theme on dismantling the social construct of gender, Masked Man #87 is the Drag Queen. He shares his story about how drag helped him come to terms with the shame he felt for being feminine.
In this episode we learn about how this man was continuously punished for performing any non-masculine behaviour, how that rejection made him repulse himself and try to follow the gender standards taught to him, to then find peace in drag.
We talk a lot about representation here, and how his experience was being a Mexican man embracing both his feminine self while also maintaining his family ties and culture, specifically with his relationship with his mother. Let's get into it. I hope you enjoy the show.
